Elderly Care Service

Purpose

Aiming at the goal of empowering healthy elders in the community, providing the weak with a supportive network to rely on, and taking care of seniors living in solitude, we work closely with local volunteers in keeping the elderly company, empowering the elderly, and providing community care to the elderly.

In this way, the elderly and needy families can receive individual care in an effort to revitalize the aging population in the community.

Service Features

  1. Long-term Care Station: Providing health activities, workshops, horticultural therapy, outdoor activities, DIY courses, baking courses, static courses, and other services.
  2. Lifelong learning academy: Providing a chance for lifelong learning so that the elderly are engaged in social interaction to develop interpersonal relationships.
  3. Aging prevention and delay courses: Teachers who pass selection and review were recruited to provide courses on slowing the progression of mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease and dementia.

Retirement Life

After retirement, Mr. Lo, who was aged 96 years old, read newspapers and watched TV at home every day. His daughter-in-law who was volunteering for the center invited him and his wife to take part in the health activities that the center provided.

Since they joined the center, the couple has never been absent and attends each class with a heart full of joy, anticipation, and happiness, adding a youthful vitality to their monotonous retirement lifestyle.

Hardly able to hear any sounds, the 96-year-old man was always smiling and willing to engage in the courses at the center. According to him, the tip to longevity is no smoking, no alcohol, no betel nuts, and taking part in the activities that the center organized with a heart full of joy and happiness.

For the elders, the most important thing about the services is their "accessibility", which allows them to receive services not far from home. In response, community care centers and alleyway long-term care stations were established to provide home visits, telephone greetings, catering services, and health education.

After taking part in the activities at the centers, the elders interacted with their relatives more frequently, met new friends, and expanded their social network. More importantly, their physical health was changing for the better.

By providing localized community care service, the elderly can stay in the community they are familiar with while the main caregivers can receive respite care, in which the community care service focuses to slow down the aging process of the seniors and maximize the benefits of self-help and mutual support in the community.
