Children Sponsorship

Purpose

Ever since our founder Missionary Lillian R. Dickson launched the child care service, The Mustard Seed Mission went deep into the rural townships throughout Taiwan to tide children from poor families over their difficulties. Through the children sponsorship program, children from disadvantaged families are supported financially, cared for through home visits. They get the tutoring services that they need to apply for school admissions, not only tiding them over difficulties in stages but also providing them a chance to reverse their lives.

Service Features

Based on the concept of home-and-community-centric services, we are not only supporting poor families financially but we also pay regular home visits and phone calls to provide our care. By distributing our branch offices to local communities, we provide home care services with immediacy, accessibility, availability, and acceptability

Help Children and Transform Their Future

Watching people with their loved ones coming and going on the streets, Wei felt particularly lonely as his father had passed away after suffering from a stroke for many years while her mother had to make a living after his father left. Since his mother was a foreign spouse who married his father in Taiwan as a new immigrant, she has no friends or relatives to rely on, but to live in a rooftop addition without a water heater. They lived in poverty and were in urgent need of external support.

After learning about the living conditions of Wei's family, we paid a home visit to learn about their needs and have been supporting them financially ever since. As of today, Wei's mother has landed a stable job with assistance from our community service center. Although it wasn't a high-paying job, she was able to take care of Wei and his elder sister before and after school. Sharing his mother's burden for taking care of the family, Wei was very active in completing his homework upon returning home and always sought help from the volunteer tutor whenever he encountered difficulties at school. On weekends, Wei took part in moral education courses in the community care centers. Wei is really a well-behaved and sensible boy.

Through the sponsorship program, Wei's family is now living a stable life and both Wei and his sister are cared for by the volunteers at the community service center after school. With the support from the Mustard Seed Mission and community partners, Wei is encouraged to face his future and fulfill his dream.
