Social Enterprise: SEED

Brand Story

Seed (Chinese name is 習得), the brand has accompanied The Mustard Seed Mission for over 70 years by sowing the seeds of love for the communities.

Mrs. Lillian R. Dickson saw the needs of indigenous people for education in the 1950s, and she founded the Vocational Training Center so that the aboriginal youth were able to acquire a marketable skill for employment. With never-ending love, the Vocational Training Center established the brand "SEED" for the disadvantaged youth and seniors so that they joined hands to bake sweet and creamy cakes with natural ingredients and without chemical additives. With safe and non-toxic natural farming methods, the farm of the Vocational Training Center produces SEED tea with natural flora and herbal ingredients, the proceedings acquired therefrom were devoted to the Mustard Seed Missions' social works, children and youth placement, cross-border children sponsorship program.

Service Location

Located in Beipu Village of Xincheng Township, Hualien County, our premise with an area of more than ten thousand square meters adopts the business model of social enterprise to provide a wide range of services. By launching the "50+ Elderly Empowerment | Value Senior's Lives" ever since 2020, we have been encouraging seniors to return to the workforce and social service areas. With the wisdom and skills they have accumulated throughout their lives, the seniors were able to flip the stereotyping of retirement by creating new values and setting new goals. By redefining the meaning of retirement, the seniors were able to make good use of their free time and allocate their savings to engage in social work that benefits their physical and mental health.

The proceeding generated therefrom were all devoted to the social work of the Mustard Seed Mission so that we can realize our social commitment to helping others with the benign cycle of never-ending love.

Service Features

By integrating economic, environmental, and social issues, the enterprise promotes the concept of "sustainable consumption" through purchases, supply chains, and cooperation.

SEED Quality

In response to the issue of "food safety and hygiene" that the general public attached great importance to, the Vocational Training Center has selected local ingredients with the appeals for handmade, safety, health, and public welfare to develop products with local features. By contacting and purchasing raw materials from local farmers, we have formed a circular chain of co-prosperity to provide safe products of the best quality.

SEED Products

In addition to SEED tea and rice-based bakery products, we also develop new bakery products such as handmade cookies, wedding cakes, full-month cakes, etc.
