Family-like Placement Institute

Purpose

Since 2017, The Mustard Seed Mission has been entrusted by the New Taipei City Government with the provision of family-like caring services. Upholding our founder Mrs. Lillian R. Dickson's mission of helping children in need with the love of God, we build families in the community and provide children with comprehensive care and education in their daily lives.

Entrusted by the government, the family-like caring services make use of social housing to provide family-like and individualized care for children in need. Unlike a foster family that provides its own residence to take care of the children and youth, the family-like caring service makes use of the social housing provided by the government so that children and youth with serious physical, mental, developmental, or learning problems are placed into the social housing to receive family-like caring services.

Only caregivers who received our training and passed our review are qualified to be admitted to the social buildings and provide stable care, treatment, education, and resources so that the vulnerable children and youth can grow up healthily.

Service Target

Children who have a need for out-of-the-house placement or children under custody (as referred by the government) in New Taipei City.

Service Features

Through the family-like care provided by the main caregivers, supporters, and partners, both children and youth are put under comprehensive care that covers multiple aspects such as life, health, schooling, morality, cognition, learning, self-reliance, etc.

By learning about and respecting the children's and youth's rights and interests, we attach great importance to a balanced development in terms of physiology, psychology, behavior, intelligence, physical fitness, and artistic abilities.

This way, children and youth who are placed in the social housing will be provided with a family-like environment in which they develop a sense of security and lead a stable life and upbringing.
