Pei-Hsin Home

Purpose

Since its establishment in April 2012, Pei-Hsin Home has been upholding our founder Mrs. Lillian R. Dickson's philosophy of "taking care of the vulnerable among the disadvantaged" by caring for each child with warmth, respect, and acceptance.

In response to the individual needs of each child, Pei-Hsin Home provided personalized life counseling and education programs so that the children were able to develop regular life routines and norms.

At the same time, children were also engaged in self-exploration, meditation, and self-empowerment so that they were able to face future challenges with a positive attitude, find a new "home" despite their traumatic experiences in the past, and rebuild their confidence and vitality.

Out of Darkness and Into Brightness

When Shaun first arrived at the Pei-Hsin Home, his clothes were dirty and torn, and his face and body were covered in bruises due to domestic violence. With a slow response, Shaun kept pacing back & forth and couldn't settle down due to a lack of security.

In the eyes of average people, Shaun wasn't especially bright, but in fact, he had good personal traits such as kindness, consideration, and honesty not only winning the trust of his teachers and peers, but also becoming part of the big family at the Pei-Hsin Home. He loved to share about his daily life with his teachers and sometimes even give others small surprises.

Under the company of his teachers at the Pei-Hsin Home, Shaun recovered from his trauma and lived happily in a safe environment away from domestic violence. At the same time, the Home also provides Shaun with tutoring services, extracurricular courses, and leisure activities so that he could experience a positive lifestyle he never had before.

When it was about time for Shaun to leave the Home, he lost his smile and look very depressed. Things turned out that Shaun has taken the Home as his real home. He told us, "I don't want to leave the Home. I want to stay here forever". Upon his words, we felt sorry for him but at the same time felt gratified that we'd won the trust of the child.

We believe that all the care and love Shaun has received from the Home would become one of the happiest memories in his future life. We also believe that Shaun would meet even more friends, grow in a new environment, and create a bright future on his own.
