Children Care

Purpose

Located in remote areas, there is a significant gap between the educational resources of the aboriginal tribes and that of the cities.

Under uneven distribution of educational resources and a high turnover rate, most tribal children are falling behind others and even develop mental and physical problems, which are further aggravated by multiple factors such as insufficient family care or unstable family structure of the indigenous peoples.

Due to cultural differences, lack of care, and without proper intervention, the tribal children are falling into a vicious circle of poor learning ability, no learning willingness, and low academic performance.

By building a "public daycare and parenting resource center", The Mustard Seed Mission provides daycare services for tribal children, not only passing down their cultural heritage to the next generation but also motivating aboriginal youth to take care of the tribal children.

By bridging the educational gap and creating a learning space for tribal children in separate stages, we accompany and support tribal children every step of the way so that they can study in a stable environment while lifting the burden on their families.

Service Targets

  1. Toddlers aged 0-2 from the aboriginal families of the service area.
  2. Creating job opportunities for local people with a profession in childcare.

During the harvest seasons of fruits and vegetables (cabbage, peach, persimmon) from May to September every year, indigenous peoples from the aboriginal tribes would be recruited to harvest the crops for some extra spending money.

However, parents of toddlers aged 0~2 would often fall into a dilemma between taking care of their children or taking a part-time job. With the assistance and support of The Mustard Seed Mission, many talents from the aboriginal tribes were nurtured to develop the local community and the spirit of self-care.

Service Features
