Our Immediate Response
Within hours of the disaster, The Mustard Seed Mission mobilized emergency teams from across Taiwan. By September 24, we had established a forward command center in Yuli and deployed seven field teams to assess needs and deliver critical aid to affected communities.
Emergency Relief Delivered
Hot meals, drinking water, blankets, hygiene kits, and emergency supplies distributed to shelters and isolated communities. Over 2,650 meals served in the first five days, with 270 volunteers mobilized.
Shelter Support & Care
Teams stationed at evacuation centers providing psychosocial support, children's safe spaces, and specialized care for elderly and persons with disabilities. Comfort items and sleeping mats delivered.
Home Recovery Begins
Volunteer teams clearing mud and debris from flooded homes. Six households cleaned in the first week. Assessment underway for electrical, plumbing, and structural repairs for vulnerable families.
What We're Doing Now
Our response is transitioning from emergency relief to recovery and rebuilding. We are working alongside affected communities to restore dignity, safety, and livelihoods.
Weeks 1-2: Emergency Relief & Stabilization
Continued hot meal service, shelter support, home cleaning with volunteers, and children's care spaces to help families cope with trauma and displacement.
Weeks 3-4: Family Recovery Support
Distribution of family relief packages, replacement of essential household items and appliances for vulnerable families, school supplies for children, emergency cash assistance, and ongoing psychosocial support.
Months 2-24: Rebuilding Lives & Communities
Home repairs for vulnerable families including electrical, plumbing, and structural work. Establishment of a Community Recovery Center with social workers providing case management, livelihood restoration programs through skills training and income generation, community caregiver training, and strengthening community resilience and mutual support networks.
