The Mustard Seed Mission is Providing Aid to Syrian Refugees

The miserable hardship caused by the devastating earthquake and internal conflict in Syria has not been forgotten! The Mustard Seed Mission is in partnership with the international humanitarian organization Habibi International, setting up shelters in Aleppo, which has been severely affected by both the aftermath of the earthquake and the internal conflict in Syria.

Despite the complex and volatile political situation in Syria, where it is challenging for aid supplies to enter, The Mustard Seed Mission and the cooperated local partner overcame numerous obstacles and collaborated with the Relief Experts Association UDER to ship the second humanitarian supplies, total of 7.8 tons, from Keelung Port on June 13. The shipment is expected to arrive at Mersin in Turkey by the end of July and then ship to Syria. The Mustard Seed Mission expresses huge gratitude to people who show their unwavering support and demonstrate the belief that "Taiwan can help" in supporting the needs of Syrian refugees.

On February 6th, a devastating earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale struck the border region of Syria and Turkey. It has been over four months since the earthquake happened. Due to the urgent need for post-disaster reconstruction and the prolonged internal conflict, many Syrian refugees and displaced people still have to rely on international humanitarian assistance.

The Mustard Seed Mission received many supplies donated by people all over Taiwan. The first relief items were urgently shipped on February 16th to support the affected people and families in Syria. Also, we are collaborating with Habibi International with the first phase of relief work which focuses on setting up shelters in Aleppo, the area most severely affected by the earthquake in Syria, to accommodate up to 100 people. The shelters will provide basic living safety, food supplies, and assistance in psychological well-being. Additionally, we provide life care and educational services for children who have lost their support systems due to war and disasters, aiming to protect them and keep them away from the risks of human trafficking. The emergency response program will be carried out on a medium to long-term.

The Mustard Seed Mission is in collaboration with Relief Experts Association (UDER), shipping the second humanitarian supplies, total of 7.8 tons (844 boxes), on June 14th from Taiwan to Syria. UDER established in 2014, has been dedicated to serving Syrian refugees and internally displaced persons by providing humanitarian assistance in healthcare, education, and hygiene, among other services, to the local community. Through cooperating, the supplies including hygiene products, clothing, and other items will provide support for the refugees in the affected areas in Syria.
