Empowering Taiwan's Youth with the Support of The Starbucks Foundation

We are honored to announce that The Mustard Seed Mission has once again been selected as a recipient of The Starbucks Foundation's Global Community Impact Grant, this time in support of our LinKou Youth Empowerment Project. This grant will strengthen our ability to provide disadvantaged youth with essential life skills, emotional growth, and pathways toward independence.

In New Taipei City's LinKou district—the site of Taiwan’s largest social housing complex—many children and teens live in community-supported households or come from economically vulnerable households. These young people often face not only financial hardship but also trauma, instability, and gaps in social and emotional development. Without tailored support, their chances of breaking cycles of poverty and building hopeful futures remain limited.

Through the LinKou Youth Empowerment Project, we are creating a safe and inspiring space where 60 youth can grow and thrive. Over six months, participants will engage in:

  • Life skills workshops in cooking, budgeting, and independent living.
  • Creative and vocational clubs such as baking, sewing, woodworking, music, and STEM-based activities.
  • Emotional and social development groups that build resilience, empathy, and healthy communication.
  • A youth-led Maker Christmas Market, where participants showcase their creations, practice entrepreneurship, and build leadership.

With this support, we aim to not only equip youth with practical skills but also to restore their self-confidence, foster resilience, and connect them more deeply with their communities.

We are deeply grateful to The Starbucks Foundation for believing in this vision. Your partnership empowers us to bring hope and opportunities to children who need it most, and to nurture the next generation of Taiwan’s leaders.

Thank you, Starbucks, for walking alongside us to empower vulnerable youth and build stronger communities!
