Standing with Myanmar

On 28 March 2025, at 12:50 PM local time, a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar, with its epicenter near Mandalay, the country’s second-largest city.

The shallow depth (10km) of the quake resulted in extensive ground shaking, causing catastrophic damage across Mandalay, Sagaing, Naypyitaw, and other densely populated areas. According to initial reports, over 1,000 lives have been lost, and thousands more are injured or missing. Critical infrastructure—including bridges, hospitals, and religious sites—has sustained severe damage.

Entire communities have been displaced, with families forced to seek shelter in open spaces amidst ongoing aftershocks. Access to safe water, food, and medical services remains limited in the hardest-hit zones.

The Mustard Seed Mission has activated its global emergency response mechanisms and is coordinating with local partners to assess needs and mobilize life-saving assistance.

We call on our global supporters to stand in solidarity with the people of Myanmar in this time of urgent humanitarian need.
