Food & Resource Security

Food & Resource Security

More Than Essentials. The Freedom to Choose.

Through MSM's CARE Platform, families choose the food, household goods, and school supplies they need, then receive them directly at home.

The Challenge

The Gap Between Getting By and Getting Help

In a developed economy, food and resource insecurity rarely looks like an empty marketplace. It appears in everyday trade-offs: groceries or medicine, household supplies or school materials, this month's rent or next week's meals.

529,000+

Across approximately 244,000 low-income and near-low-income households.

Taiwan's relative poverty rate

A broader measure of people living without enough financial buffer to absorb a setback.

Between those measures are many “borderline poor” families: above the assistance threshold, but one medical bill, slow season, or difficult month away from crisis.

How MSM Helps

Not a Food Bank. A Platform for Choice.

Through MSM's LoveLife Centre network, the CARE Platform gives enrolled families a private, points-based way to choose what their household needs. There are no pre-packed parcels and no public line for assistance.

01 · RECEIVE POINTS

Support arrives automatically

Once enrolled, each household receives 1,000 points on the first day of every month without having to reapply.

02 · BROWSE & CHOOSE

Families decide what matters

Families browse approximately 970 items and select the exact combination their household needs that month.

03 · DELIVERED HOME

Essentials reach the door

LoveLife Centre packs and delivers orders across Taipei, Tainan, Hualien, and Taitung.

Everyday Choice

The Infrastructure of Daily Life

Resource security is broader than food. A family may need rice one month, laundry detergent the next, or school supplies before a new term. The platform leaves that decision with the family.

Warm Meal Box

A Safe Meal When Time Runs Short

For households where caregivers work long hours and children may be home before an adult returns, the CARE Platform includes ready-to-heat frozen meal kits prepared in MSM's certified community kitchen.

Some meals are prepared by community members who previously received MSM support and later entered employment through MSM's Employment & Empowerment program. Program 5 distributes the meals; Program 6 supports the livelihood pathway behind part of the production team.

A Family's Story

A Little More Room at the End of a Long Day

Ten-year-old Shan lives with her family in the mountains of Chiayi. Her father's farm income is seasonal, while her mother works long hours to cover food, housing, and her grandfather's medical costs. By the final week of many months, there is little room left in the family budget.

For three consecutive months, Shan's family selected the Warm Meal Box through the CARE Platform. Each box provided seven ready-to-heat dinners. The meals did not replace the family's own choices; they gave Shan's mother a little more room to rest after a long day.

“Some days I come home completely exhausted. Knowing I don't have to worry about cooking every single night makes a big difference.”
