Collapsed buildings in General Santos City following the June 2026 Mindanao earthquake

Emergency Response · June 2026

2026 Philippines Earthquake Relief

What Happened

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Mindanao. Over 140,000 people now need help.

On June 8, 2026, a powerful earthquake hit Mindanao Island in the southern Philippines, triggering tsunamis along coastal areas and leaving widespread destruction in its wake. More than 40 people have been killed, nearly 500 injured, and over 40,000 families displaced — many now living in makeshift shelters amid ongoing aftershocks.

For the children caught in this disaster, the damage is more than physical. When the world they know collapses overnight, what they need most is someone to stay beside them — to listen, to accompany, to help them feel safe again.
