Lillian R. Dickson's Quotes

"We keep trying to give them habits of steady faithfulness and industry...”

The weather is growing colder, and more boys are coming in to our Rescue Home. Probably the number will be greatly increased by Christmas time, and then some will drift away at the time of the Chinese New Year in February. Besides their school work we now have handicraft for them, carving souvenirs which we can sell for them. We keep trying to give them habits of steady faithfulness and industry, so that they too can make a success of life. Otherwise the fate of a street boy is almost inevitably a lifetime in prison going from one crime to another.

▏Extracted from Lillian R. Dickson's Letters -1966 Nov. 30▕

Photo In 1961, Lillian R. Dickson set up a Rescue Home in Taipei City, which sheltered street teens and provided them with food and housing for free. The picture is the band formed by the children of the Rescue Home in 1963.

You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your being, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this, You will love your neighbor as yourself.

Mark 12:30-31
